Tommy Eskew’s record-setting Hat Trick helps the Skyhawks shine on Senior Night

WEST POINT, Ga. (Oct. 19, 2023) - The Point University Men's Soccer team returned to the River Bowl stadium for a Thursday Night nonconference matchup against Florida College where the Skyhawks took the win 6-1 over the Falcons.

Tonight's game also served as Senior Night for the Skyhawks and the rest of the crew took advantage of putting on a show with the seniors as Jacob Illmer helped the Skyhawks get on the scoreboard first with a goal to lead 1-0. Florida College would not walk away empty-handed as the Falcons responded three minutes later with a goal to tie the game 1-1. Both teams continued to take their shots on goal but the momentum would not shift to either side. Noa Wiegand entered the game with a mindset of wiping away the tie with paid dividends as he scored the second goal of the game to put the Skyhawks back in the lead 2-1 to go into the half.

The second half began with Florida College looking to find a way to break the lead from Point but the defense of the Skyhawks elevated after regrouping at the half. The historic mark would soon be a treat for the Skyhawk community as Tommy Eskew scored the next three goals in 75 seconds for a hat trick with each seeming to outdo the other. The opposing side seemed to be unable to find answers to the hot second half that was produced as Diogo Palhoto added more fuel to the fire with another to push Point's lead to 6-1. Florida College would be able to make the comeback as the Skyhawks took the win in front of their home fans.
