Men’s Lacrosse falls to Tennessee Wesleyan in road AAC Play

ATHENS, Tenn. (Mar. 9, 2024) - The Point University Men's Lacrosse Team returned to the field for a road Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup against Tennessee Wesleyan University where the Skyhawks fell to the Bulldogs with a final score of 10-6. 

The Bulldogs opened the scoring column with the first three goals to lead 3-0 in the early going. Malyke Sillers responded with back-to-back goals for the Skyhawks to trim the Bulldogs' lead to 3-2. Tennessee Wesleyan followed with two consecutive goals in 11 seconds to end the first period with a 5-2 lead. The Skyhawks' defense held its own in the second period as Point would not allow the Bulldogs to score throughout the entire quarter but also was held scoreless on the offensive end. The second half opened with Point continuing to challenge the Bulldogs by just allowing one goal to go into the fourth quarter trailing 6-2. Jeff Knapp opened the fourth quarter with scoring a goal to respond to the Bulldogs to bring the Tennessee Wesleyan lead to 7-3. Malyke Sillers continued to give the Bulldogs trouble on offense as he added two more scored goals to help the Skyhawks creep into the lead of Tennessee Wesleyan with an 8-5 lead. The Bulldogs scored two more goals while only allowing Point to just one more to take the game with a final score of 10-6.

Malyke Sillers led with four scored goals and two groundballs. Jeff Knapp added one goal and 12 faceoff wins. Shaun McLaughlin contributed with one goal on the evening.
