Women's Soccer is "topped" by the Toppers

WEST POINT, Ga. (September 30, 2023) – The Point University Women's Soccer team returned to the pitch for a home conference match against Blue Mountain Christian University, where the Skyhawks fell to the Toppers 3-1.

First Half

Blue Mountain Christian made a strong start with Madison Zamudio finding the back of the net in the 11:27th minute with an assist from Annabel Trauschke, making it 1-0. - The lead was doubled at 18:14 when Madison Zamudio scored again, this time unassisted, to bring the score to 2-0 in favor of Blue Mountain Christian. - Annabel Trauschke added another goal for Blue Mountain Christian at 40:18, making the score 3-0 going into halftime.

Second Half

Point responded early in the second half with Bailey Turner scoring unassisted at 49:48, reducing the deficit to 3-1. - Several substitutions were made by both teams throughout the second half, but Point couldn't find another breakthrough, while Blue Mountain Christian maintained their lead.

In the Box

Blue Mountain Christian had a total of 22 shots with 10 on goal, while Point had 7 shots with 3 on target. Point's goalkeeper, Kelly Rowland, made 7 saves. Blue Mountain Christian's goalie, Jordan Gates, made 2 saves. Corner Kicks: Blue Mountain Christian led with 9 corners, compared to Point's 3. Fouls: Blue Mountain Christian committed 7 fouls and Point committed 5. There were also 3 yellow cards given in the second half - two to Point players (Jane Portillo at 56:42 and Khlari South at 82:15) and one to Blue Mountain Christian's Flavie Sallaz at 88:05.
