Women’s soccer collects All-AAC awards

WEST POINT, Ga. (Nov. 12, 2021) – The Appalachian Athletic Conference announced the 2021 women's soccer All-AAC teams, and four Point University women's soccer team members were recognized for their efforts during the regular season.

Senior, Carmen Kager, earned a spot on the All-AAC first team, and Erica Burkhardt, Kelly Carlisle, and Jasmine Mathis were recognized on the All-AAC second team.

Kager finished conference play with seven goals and a team-high of eight assists. She started and played in all 13 conference games and all 17 games in the season. She accounted for 22 points and took 44 shots in AAC play, and had two game-winning goals. Kager scored three goals and the game-winning goal in Point's 5-1 victory over Columbia during the regular season. The senior's hat trick was Point's first hat trick since 2017 and the first hat trick the Skyhawks have had in AAC play since joining the conference in 2012.

Burkhardt started and played in goal in all 13 conference games and only allowed 16 goals in AAC action. Burkhardt had 68 saves and had a 1.21 goals-against average. She finished AAC play with a .810 save percentage.

Carlisle started and played in all 13 conference games at forward and had a team-high alongside Kager with seven goals. She recorded three assists, 17 points, 39 shots and accounted for two game-winning goals.

Mathis led Point's defensive line all season to help hold opponents to only 16 goals in conference play and six in October. Mathis had one goal in AAC play: the game-winning goal in Point's win over Johnson (Tenn.), and she scored Point's lone goal in the Skyhawks' matchup with Georgia Gwinnett.

The Skyhawks' season ended in the semifinal round of the AAC tournament after advancing for the first time since 2014.
