Bone records 100th save of season; Skyhawks fall to Ottawa  

SHARPSBURG, Ga. (March 15, 2022) — The Point University women's lacrosse team faced Ottawa (Kan.) Wednesday night in a neutral site matchup at Trinity Christian School in Sharpsburg, Ga., and fell to the Braves 17-4.  

During Wednesday's game, senior goalkeeper Kayla Bone made her 100th save on the season. Bone finished the night with 12 saves.  

On offense, the Skyhawks were led by Kaelyn Geathers, who recorded two goals off six shots, four on goal and eight ground balls. Sydney Hanna and Kelli Grimsley recorded one goal apiece. Grimsley led the Skyhawks with seven shots, all on goal and added two ground balls.  

The Braves jumped out and scored nine goals in the first quarter and added three goals to start the third quarter before Kelli Grimsley got the Skyhawks on the board with 1:06 remaining in the first half.  

The Skyhawks opened the second half with two goals, the first from Geathers and the second from Hanna, assisted by Victoria Cortes. Ottawa closed the third quarter with two goals, making the score 14-3 entering the final frame.  

In the fourth quarter, the Braves scored two goals to open the period before Geathers connected for her second goal of the game with 2:40 left in the contest. With 12 seconds remaining, Ottawa connected for the game's final goal.  

The Braves outshot Point 37-15. Point recorded 24 ground balls and Ottawa had 19.  

The Skyhawks will be back in action on Saturday, March 19, as they host St. Andrews University in an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup at 12 p.m. inside River Bowl Stadium.
