Tory Wooley begins his 11th season as head coach of the Point women’s basketball team.

Through his tenure as head coach of the Skyhawks, Wooley has coached seven AAC All-Freshman Team players; two AAC Freshman of the Year winners; 24 All-Conference players, one AAC Player of the Year, one AAC Defensive Player of the Year, one AAC Newcomer of the Year, one NAIA Honorable Mention All-American and three NCCAA All-Region players. Wooley also has won AAC Coach of the Year in the 2022-23 season.

2022-23: The Skyhawks followed their previous success by finishing 23-9 (18-6 AAC). Point spent the month of December without losing a game which contributed to their seven-game winning streak. Marta Gimenez scored her 1,000th career point on December 10, 2022, against St. Andrews University. Point finished with four AAC All-Conference players, including Mataea Boyd winning Newcomer of the Year, First-Team All-Conference, and All-Defensive Team. Marta Gimenez finished with first-team all-conference and All-Defensive team honors. Ky'Leo Worriels and Mirial Cannon finished with 2nd-Team All-Conference honors and All-Defensive Team. Coach Wooley won AAC Coach of the Year, making him the first African American Coach in basketball for men's or women's sides. Point went into the AAC Tournament as the #2 seed, their highest seed for a tournament. After defeating Bluefield and Montreat in the first two rounds, the Skyhawks would eventually advance to the championship and defeat Bryan College to win the AAC Championship for the first time in school history. The Skyhawks earned an NAIA National Tournament bid in Kentucky as the #16 seed, where they faced off against #1 seeded Thomas More University but fell to the Saints in a loss. 

2021-22: The Skyhawks had the best season in program history, finishing 24-7 (18-6 AAC). Point opened its season with a 10-game win streak. The Skyhawks broke and matched several school records throughout the season and garnered eight All-AAC awards to commemorate their achievements. Marta Gimenez was named to the All-AAC first team and All-AAC defensive team.  The Skyhawks earned a spot in the AAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed and advanced to the semifinal round, where they fell to No. 2 Milligan. The women's basketball team finished the year with the highest GPA among Point teams (3.58). On May 26, 2022, Wooley became D.I.S.C certified through Taking Flight with Disc. 

2020-21 season: The women's basketball team went 15-7 overall and 12-6 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. The Skyhawks earned a spot in the AAC Tournament as the No. 4 seed and defeated St. Andrews 77-48 in the opening round defeated Brenau in the quarterfinal round before falling to the No. 1 seed, Bryan in the semifinals. Wooley had five squad members with junior transfer Marta Gimenez highlighting the postseason awards by earning the title of AAC Defensive Player of the Year. 

2019-20 season: Wooley led the Skyhawks to a 15-14 overall record and were 12-12 in the AAC. The Skyhawks earned a spot in the AAC Tournament as the No. 6 seed and fell to Union College 54-48 in the quarterfinal round. Wooley had one member of his 2019-20 squad earn AAC All-Conference recognition, as Te' Johnson earned a spot on the All-Conference second team. 

2018-19 season: Point went 16-13 overall and 15-11 in AAC play. In that season, Wooley had several members of his squad earn All-Conference recognition, led by Nicole Izuagie who was named AAC Freshman of the Year and earning a spot on the AAC All-Conference second team. Destinee Webster was named to the AAC All-Conference first team. Wooley earned his 100th career victory on Nov. 2, 2018, with a 68-63 win at Pensacola Christian (Fla.).

Point won 85 games from 2014-18 under Wooley's direction, including three consecutive seasons with 21 or more wins.

2017-18: Point won 19 of its last 25 games, including an eight-game win streak.  The Skyhawks finished with a 21-8 record and finished third in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) regular-season standings.  However, the Skyhawks lost their third consecutive first-round game in the AAC Tournament, 56-46, to number six-seeded Allen University. 

During his first year as head coach (2013-14), Wooley led the Lady Skyhawks to a 14-win season, which surpassed the combined victory total of the previous two teams. In his second season (2014-15), the Skyhawks finished with an 18-13 record, and in 2015-16 and 2016-17, Point compiled a program-record 23 wins in both seasons (23-12 and 23-7).

Wooley was named the 2015-2016 NCCAA South Region Coach of the Year after the Skyhawks were crowned South Region Tournament Champions, defeating NCAA Division II Emmanuel College in the title game.  The win over Emmanuel advanced the Skyhawks to the NCCAA Division I National Tournament.

On November 28, 2015, Wooley guided Point to perhaps the most impressive victory in program history, as the Skyhawks knocked off the No. 4 ranked team in NAIA Division I, Bethel University.  The 2015-16 season was also successful in the classroom for the women's basketball team as the ladies were named an NAIA Scholar-Team, achieving a 3.22 team GPA.  In 2016-17, Point defeated each of its 11 conference opponents at least once.

Wooley is an alumnus of Point University and a former men’s basketball program member. As a student-athlete, Wooley lettered all four years for the Skyhawks and served as team captain in three of his four seasons.  Honored as an NCCAA All-American, Wooley remains one of the all-time leading scorers of the men’s basketball program, finishing with 1,765 career points and helping Point win the NCCAA South Region championship his junior year.  He graduated with honors and was the recipient of the prestigious Hathcock Award.

Wooley’s coaching experience began with working at basketball clinics in Costa Rica (SCORE International) and Israel (Fellowship of Christian Athletes); assisting with Shaka Smart’s camp at VCU; and coaching at the Dwight Howard Father and Son camp in Atlanta, Ga.  He has also been an assistant coach for the Georgia Stars U-17 AAU boy’s basketball team.

A native of Atlanta, Wooley is a graduate of Southwest Atlanta Christian, where he played alongside center Dwight Howard of the Los Angeles Lakers. Howard and Wooley won two high school Class-A region championships together as teammates.

In 2014, Wooley earned his Master’s in Kinesiology and Coaching from Georgia Southern University.  During the 2017-18 season, Tory married Nicci Wooley (formerly Nicci Kelly), on December 16, 2017, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.  Tory and Nicci became parents of Tory Jack (T.J.) Wooley on July 30, 2019, and their second son Joshua Timothy (JT) was born on Sept. 20, 2021.
