Mataea Boyd earns her first AAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors

WEST POINT, Ga. (Dec. 19, 2022) - Mataea Boyd was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Week award for the week ending Dec. 18.  

The Junior forward from Waycross, Ga. recorded 30 points, two steals, four rebounds and two assists in the win versus Columbia International University on Tuesday, Dec. 13. Boyd shot 11-16 overall from the field, 5-6 from the three-point line, and 3-3 from the free throw line which resulted in her shooting over 50% overall in the game. Mataea Boyd has made an immediate impact in her first season at Point University and is starting to gain attention as one of the top two-way players in the conference. Boyd can now add being the AAC Women’s Basketball Player of the week to her collegiate career. This is her first career weekly honor.
