Women’s Basketball heads to Kentucky to face Thomas More in the NAIA First Round

WEST POINT, Ga. (Mar. 2, 2023)- The NAIA hosted the selection show on Thursday to reveal the 2023 NAIA Women’s Basketball National Championship Tournament, which saw the Point women’s basketball team live in a moment they will not forget.

The bracket will consist of 64 teams fighting for a chance at the National Title after their regular seasons for the first and second rounds at various host sites around the country, beginning on March 7-8. The second-round winners will take their talents to the National Championship site in Sioux City, Iowa.

Point will be the No. 16 seed and take on No. 1 Thomas More in the Cramer Quadrant, which will be in the Crestview Hills Bracket in Kentucky. The other part of the bracket will have No. 8 seed Concordia from Nebraska and No. 9 seed Columbia from Missouri. The first round of each game will be played on March 7, with the winners getting a chance to play on March 8 for the spot at Sioux City.

The Skyhawks, fresh off an AAC Tournament Championship, are looking to continue their season with a 0-0 mindset and take it one game at a time as they look to claim the National Gold to their already historic season. The two teams have not met each other on the court, and this will be their first meeting as the Skyhawks have a hunger for more success. Thomas More is coming off a 26-3 season and fell to Shawnee State in Mid-South Conference Tournament. The game will tip-off at 5:30 P.M. Eastern time on March 7th.
