Point Softball ends season at the SSAC Tournament

DECATUR, Ala. (May 3, 2024) - The Point University Softball team returned to the field for an Elimination game at the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament against #5-seeded Stillman College where the Skyhawks fell to the Tigers with a final score of 9-1.

Ramsey Clark opened the top of the first inning with a base hit past the pitcher, hoping to get the momentum going for the Skyhawks. With one out already on the board, the Tigers succeeded with a double play to end the inning. Stillman added five runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. In the second inning, Tia Coleman added a single to left field followed by Savanna Bryant reaching first on a fielder's choice. A pop-up and a ground out left one runner stranded on base with zero runs. The Tigers continued to extend their lead with a solo home run and a runner advancing home from a walk. Hannah Phillips singled through the left side to add a hit in the top of the third inning. A sacrifice bunt from Ramsey Clark and a passed ball was enough to advance Hannah Phillips home for Point's first run. Stillman added two more runs in the following two innings to end the game in a run-rule with a final score of 9-1.
