CLEVELAND, Ga. (March 29, 2023) – The Point University softball team played an away AAC doubleheader on Wednesday against Truett-McConnell and would be swept. The Skyhawks would lose game one, 5-3 (8 innings) and game two, 6-4 to be swept by the Bears.

Game 1 – 5-3 LOSS (8 innings)

The first game of the doubleheader would add excitement for both dugouts starting in the top of the sixth when the Skyhawks would go into the inning down 1-0. With two outs and two runners on, Haley Lyner would get the first lead of the afternoon for the Skyhawks on her 3-run home run to center field. This home run would put the Skyhawks up 3-1. The Bears would scratch a run across in the bottom of the sixth to make it a one-run game at 3-2. After the Skyhawks would go down in order in the top of the seventh, the Bears would capitalize in their home half. The Bears would tie the ball game up with a single up the middle to make it 3-3.  After Katelyn Jiles would give up a lead off single, the Bears would ground out twice. So, with the Bears down to their last out, they would hit a 2-run walk-off home run to win the ballgame with a score, 5-3 (8 innings).
