Jennifer Tyler announces 2022-23 recruiting class

WEST POINT, Ga. (Aug. 17, 2022) – Point University softball coach Jennifer Tyler has announced her incoming recruiting class for the 2022-23 season.

The Skyhawks welcome five recruits as they look to remain a dominant team in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.  

The incoming class features Wellsley Henderson, Raley Thorn, Maggie Harris, Tia Coleman, and Skye Loftin.

Wellsley Henderson

Class: Junior

Position: 1B/O

Hometown: Smiths Station, AL

Previous School: Coastal Alabama Community College

From Coach Tyler: "Wellsley is a transfer utility player that will be a huge threat at the plate. She should make an immediate impact in our lineup. She can play multiple positions and will be a very nice addition to our roster."

Raley Thorn

Class: Freshman

Position: P

Hometown: Beauregard, AL

Previous School: Beauregard High School

From Coach Tyler: "Raley will be a freshman lefty pitcher with tons of spin and movement. She will be very effective for us, and we are excited to see her start her collegiate career as a Point University Skyhawk in the circle."

Maggie Harris

Class: Sophomore

Position: P

Hometown: Carrollton, GA

Previous School: Covenant College

From Coach Tyler: "Maggie has multiple pitches and can also play first base. She was a late pickup for us, and we think she will fit right in and help us have a successful season."

Tia Coleman

Class: Junior

Position: 1B/DH

Hometown: Mobile, AL

Previous School: Lurleen B. Wallace Community College

From Coach Tyler: "Tia plays first base and can be a dangerous DH with experience and knowledge. She will be a versatile player on both sides of the ball."

Skye Loftin

Class: Junior

Position: 3B

Hometown: Lagrange, GA

Previous School: Southern Union Community College

From Coach Tyler: "Skye is a transfer infielder at the corners. She has a lot of pop at the plate and will bring energy to the diamond. We are excited about seeing Skye contribute to our season."
