Cross Country competes in Firehawk Invitational

FLORENCE, Ala. (Oct. 22, 2021) – Hayley Akbari, Micah Burdette and Austin Hemphill represented the Point University cross country program Friday morning as they competed in the Firehawk Invitational hosted by The University of Tennessee Southern at McFarland Park in Florence, Alabama.

The field featured runners from 12 schools, ranging from NCAA Division I, NCAA Division III, NAIA and NJCAA. Point did not record a team score for either the men's or women's teams.

Out of a field of 51 runners, Akbari finished in 32nd with a time of 25:15.50 in the women's 5k.

In the men's 8k out of 65 runners, Burdette finished in 23rd with a time of 28:15.44, and Hemphill finished in 47th with a time of 31:16.84.

Friday's meet marks the last meet the Skyhawks will compete in before the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships, set to take place Saturday, Nov. 6, in Canton, Georgia.
