Cross Country competes in Bobcat Invitational
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. (Oct. 9, 2021) – The Point University men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Milledgeville, Georgia, to compete in the Bobcat Invitational, hosted by Georgia College Saturday morning.
Point did not record a team score for either the men's and women's teams, as Micah Burdette and Austin Hemphill represented the men, and Hayley Akbari represented the women's team.
Out of a field of 72 runners in the men's 8k, Burdette finished in 25th place with a time of 28:45.9, besting his time from last week's race in Albany, Georgia, by nearly a minute and a half. Hemphill finished in 51st place with a time of 39:09.6.
In the women's 5k, Akbari finished in 67th out of 94 runners with a time of 25:42.4.
Next, the Skyhawks will compete in the Firehawk Invitational in Florence, Alabama, on Friday, Oct. 22, before turning their attention to the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship, held on Saturday, Nov. 6.
