Cross Country competes in Topper Trails Classic

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. (Sept. 23, 2021) – The Point University men's and women's cross country teams competed in their second meet of the 2021 season, in Blue Mountain, Mississippi, in the Topper Trails Classic hosted by Blue Mountain College Thursday evening.

The field featured seven teams across NAIA, Division II, Division III, and NJCAA divisions. Point did not record a team score on both the men's and women's sides of competition.

Hayley Akbari ran the women's 5k and finished in 36th out of 51 runners with a time of 27:06.53.

On the men's side, out of 57 competitors, Micah Burdette placed 18th in the 8k, with a time of 29:23.61. Teammate Austin Hemphill finished in 37th with a time of 33:39.38.

Next, Point will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 2, in the Fifth Annual Willie Laster Invitational in Albany, Georgia.
