Track and Field breaks more records at the Tiger Track Classic

AUBURN, Ala. (Mar. 18, 2023)- The Point University Track and Field team competed in the Tiger Track Classic at Auburn University on Friday and Saturday. The Skyhawks saw many improvements as Point continues competitions leading up to the Conference Championships. 

Men 

The men's 4x100 relay, made up of Isaac Jones, Quinn Vega, Javien Leeks, and DeAndre Wade, broke the school record with a time of 43.76, beating the previous record of 44.41. This mark ranks them 3rd in the AAC.  

  

Isaac Jones set a new PR in the 100 with 11.48, beating his previous time of 11.59. Jones also helped the 4x100 relay team break the school record.  

  

Sanjuan Warner qualified for the AAC Championships in the Discus throw and set a new school record with a toss of 39.22m, besting the old record of 33.41m. Warner’s mark puts him 4th in the AAC. Warner also competed in the javelin and threw his second-best throw of all time with a mark of 38.62 

  

DeAndre Wade broke his school record yet again with a new time of 10.88, beating his old record of 10.91. Wade’s 10.88 puts him 3rd in the AAC. Wade was also the anchor leg in the record-setting 4x100 relay.

  

Elijah Pace set a new PR and broke the 3000-meter outdoor school record with a time of 9:26.17, beating the previous record time of 9:36.06 established in 2019 and his prior PR of 9:41.17. Pace also ran his second fastest time ever of 16:38.00 in the 5k.  

  

Brett Vanleuven competed in the 5k and set a new PR of 18:04.48. Demolishing his previous PR of 18:31.31  

  

Women  

  

Anna Brown set a new PR in the 1500m with a time of 5:51.79, besting her old time of 5:55.63. 

  

Ashley Bowden ran the 1500m for the first time in her career, setting a time of 5:53.46 

  

Linda Schiller also made a huge PR in the 1500m, with a new time of 6:15.20. Beating her old time of 6:28.38  

  

Christyauna Beasley narrowly set a new PR in the 400m with a time of 1:15.36, beating her old PR of 1:15.41.

The Skyhawks will return to action on Friday, March 24, and Saturday, March 25, for the Emory Thrills in the Hills meet.
