Track and Field builds more momentum as they near conference

Emory, GA. (Mar. 26, 2023)- The Point University Track and Field team competed in the Emory Thrills in the Hills at Emory on Friday and Saturday. The Skyhawks saw many improvements as Point continued competitions leading to the Conference Championships.  

  

Day 1 started hot with the 200-meter dash. Chazmere Anderson broke her school record with a new time of 27.72, narrowly missing the AAC qualifying time of 27.63. Anderson would return in the 100m the following day with a time of 13.56.  

  

Javien Leeks improved his PR in the 200 to 22.65 and qualified for the AAC Championships. Leeks would return for day 2 in the 100m and 400.  

  

Joshua Beam set a new school record in the 3000m Steeplechase and qualified for the AAC Championships with a time of 10:10.94. Beam's time puts him 3rd in the AAC.  

  

Elijah Pace qualified for the AAC Championships in the 10k with a time of 35:27 

  

Day 1 ended in the javelin throw, with Andrew Howe throwing a new PR of 39.89 and qualifying for the AAC Championships. Howe would return on day two, setting new PRs in the Discus and Shot Put.  

  

Day 2 also saw some new records, with Sanjuan Warner setting a new school record in the Shot Put with a throw of 11.48m, qualifying him for the AAC Championships. Warner has now qualified in all three of his throwing events.  

  

Kyah Campbell set a new PR in the 100m, breaking the 15 sec barrier for the first time. With a time of 14.84, beating her previous time of 15.01. Campbell would return later in the 400 to set a new PR of 1:16.96  

  

Christyauna Beasley also set new PRs in both the 100 and 400. Beasley would make an almost two-second jump in the 400, with a new best time of 1:13.01. Beating her old time of 1:15.36 

  

Anna Brown ran a new personal best time in the 800, 2:51.36. Beating her old time of 2:55.00 

  

Linda Schiller would also PR in the 800 by two seconds.
