Point Track and Field Season in Full Swing

WEST POINT, Ga. (Jan. 23, 2022) - The Point University Men's and Women's Track and Field team opened their 2023 season on Sunday at the KMS Invitational in Birmingham, Ala. Head Coach, Caleb Albrecht, was pleased with how his team started with quick progression as they look to continue their momentum from the first meet. 

60-meter dash:  

DeAndre Wade made it through the prelims qualifying for the semi-finals in a 6.98, in the semi-finals he ran a 6.96, qualifying for the finals. In the finals, he ran 6.95 placing him 5th out of 39 competitors and setting the first-time school record. 

Wade's time of 6.95 places him 3rd in the AAC and .04 away from qualifying for the National Championships.  

  

Isaac Jones ran a 7.41, qualifying him for the semi-finals, where he ran 7.41 again, placing him 22nd overall.  

  

AJ Rathbun also competed, running 7.68. 

  

Chazmere Anderson ran 8.61, qualifying for the semi-finals, where she reran 8.61, placing 23rd.  

  

200m:  

Javien Leeks ran 22.89 setting an all-time personal best and placing 7th out of 35 

  

Christian Hodgins also set a PR of 25.01  

  

Quinn Vega made his college debut with 23.66, missing his all-time personal best of 23.60. Quinn placed 13th in the meet  

800:  

Ashley Bowden made her college race debut in the 800 with a 2:55.42 

Nolwenn Blain finished right behind her with a 2:56.01  

1 mile:  

Ian Dougherty placed 10th overall in the mile out of 33 runners and was shy of his all-time best. He ran 4:30.72, which ranks him 10th in the AAC.  

  

Anna Brown was also just a couple of seconds shy of her all-time best, opening her college track debut in 6:20.74, placing her 17th in the meet.
