Men’s Soccer fly past Brewton-Parker for their first SSAC win

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. (Oct. 5, 2023) - The Point Men's Soccer team returned to the pitch for a Southern States Athletic Conference matchup against Brewton-Parker College, where the Skyhawks took the win 3-1 over the Barons. 

The first half started with the Skyhawks taking the first two shots within the first minute and 35 seconds, but the Barons held their own to secure a save on both. Both teams continued to be evenly matched by not letting either opponent get the upper hand with a score to keep the match scoreless going into the break. 

The Second half started in Point's favor as Hwijun Cho connected with Brandon Cervantes for the goal to put the Skyhawks ahead 1-0. Cho continued to find his teammates as he helped the Skyhawks take a 2-0 lead by assisting Diogo Soucasaux on the second goal. The match continued with Point's offense helping carry the momentum as Hwijun Cho put the Skyhawks by three as he scored the third goal. The Barons looked to try to make a quick comeback by scoring a goal to trail by two, but the Skyhawks held their ground for the rest of the half to get the win 3-1.

Point took 13 total shots with 10 on goal compared to the Barons' 11 shots and five on goal. Brandon Cervantes, Diogo Soucasaux and Hwijun Cho each scored a goal for Point in the contest.
