Men’s Soccer drops SSAC match to Faulkner at home

The game started with goalie Callum Thompson at the net for Point. It wasn't long before Faulkner found the net, as Antoine Marques scored the first goal assisted by Ilan Tabet at 3:37, putting Faulkner up 1-0. Discipline problems for Point marred the first half. Julio Souza received a yellow card at 28:41. In a significant setback, Callum Thompson was red-carded at 34:28. This led to a penalty kick for Faulkner, which substitute goalie Daniel Oviedo saved. The first half concluded with Faulkner leading 1-0.  

Faulkner's dominance continued into the second half. Leo Freire expanded their lead to 2-0 at 46:33 with an unassisted goal. Another goal came from Antoine Marques at 56:56, this time assisted by Gabriel Dias, making it 3-0. Point finally got on the scoreboard at 76:03 when Noa Wiegand scored an unassisted goal, making it 4-1. However, Matheus Rodrigues for Faulkner had already added another to their tally at 75:14, securing the game at 4-1. 

Disciplinary actions included yellow cards for Faulkner's Julio Souza, Gabriel Rokbrand, and Stephen Richards, while Point's Callum Thompson received a red card. The match ended in a resounding 4-1 victory for Faulkner, who now move to a 7-0-1 record, while Point slides to 0-5.

Point goalie Daniel Oviedo had six saves in 55:32 minutes, while Callum Thompson had one save in 34:28 before his red card.

The Skyhawks will focus on Tennessee Southern as Point will take the road on Thursday, September 28th. They will head up to Pulaski, Tenn., for the 7:30 P.M. matchup.
