Men’s Soccer drops nonconference road contest to Lagrange

WEST POINT, Ga. (Sept. 6, 2023) - The Point University Men's Soccer team traveled for a road contest for a non-conference match for the Battle of the Troup County, where the Skyhawks fell to the Panthers 5-1.

The Skyhawks kept Lagrange on their heels by getting their defense fired up and did not allow a goal for most of the half. The Panthers scored off the intense goal as the first half ended with a Lagrange 1-0 lead. The second half started with the Panthers adding two goals to lead 3-0. The Skyhawks did not let the half slip away with a shutout as Diogo Soucasaux used his lightning speed to breeze past the Panthers for the goal. As Point looked to continue their second-half comeback, Lagrange's offense stepped up in a big way as Enrique Hernandez scored his third goal for the Panthers to get a hat trick. Point continued to push their way for the late comeback as the shots on goal increased, but the Panthers would not let up. As the match got closer to the final buzzer, the Panthers took their last shot on goal, resulting in a make to bring their lead to 5-1, ending as the final score.
