Leguizamon named All-America honorable mention

WEST POINT, Ga. (Dec. 9, 2021) – Sophomore Jeronimo Leguizamon of the Point University men's soccer team has been selected as a 2021 NAIA All-America honorable mention, as announced by the NAIA office Monday evening. Leguizamon was previously named the Appalachian Athletic Conference player of the year and led the nation in scoring this season.

Leguizamon, who earned AAC Golden Boot honors and a spot on the AAC All-Conference first team, scored 25 goals in 19 matches this season, ranking No. 1 in the NAIA in goals and shots taken (130).

Leguizamon's average of 1.32 goals per game featured him scoring multiple goals six times, two hat tricks, and two games with four goals or more. Leguizamon tallied a career-high and set a new school record with most goals scored in a game with five in Point's big win over Johnson (Tenn.) on Oct. 9. Leguizamon was the first in Point men's soccer history to garner NAIA Player of the Week recognition on Nov. 2, after scoring seven goals in two matches and setting a new school record for most goals scored in a single season (22).

Leguizamon led the Point men's soccer team to its first NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship appearance after tying with Tennessee Wesleyan in the AAC Championship and defeating the Bulldogs in penalty kicks, 5-3. Leguizamon connected for Point's fifth PK to earn the win. The Skyhawks earned the No. 4 seed in the Columbia (Mo.) bracket in the opening round of the NAIA championship and faced No. 1 seed and host Columbia. The Skyhawks fell to the Cougars 3-0 and finished the season 11-6-2 overall and 8-5 in AAC play.
