Gomes earns second AAC weekly recognition

WEST POINT, Ga. (Nov. 8, 2021) – For the second time this season, senior goalkeeper Julio Gomes of the Point University men's soccer team has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The league made the announcement Monday.

Gomes made 11 saves in Point's 1-0 victory over Reinhardt in the AAC tournament to help the Skyhawks advance to the semifinal round.

In the last 10 games, Gomes has had six clean sheets and has only allowed five goals. He is No. 5 in the AAC in save percentage (.821), goals against (14) and goals-against average (0.95).

Point will return to action tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 9, as they host Montreat in the semifinal round of the AAC tournament inside River Bowl Stadium.
