Leguizamon earns third AAC weekly recognition

WEST POINT, Ga. (Nov. 1, 2021) – Sophomore forward Jeronimo Leguizamon of the Point University men's soccer team connected for seven goals last week, earning him Appalachian Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week recognition. The league office made the announcement Monday for the week ending Oct. 31.

This is Leguizamon's third weekly honor of the year and fourth of his career.

Leguizamon led Point to two victories this week. The sophomore connected for four goals, including the game-winner in a 7-0 win over Columbia on Wednesday, and had a hat trick, including the game-winner in a 4-1 win over Bluefield.

Leguizamon's fourth goal against Columbia broke the school record set by Juan Gomez back in 2018 for most goals scored in a season. Gomez set the record with 17 goals, and Leguizamon now holds the record with 22.

Leguizamon is currently tied in first place in the NAIA for goals scored and leads the nation with 112 shots.

The Skyhawks concluded their regular-season schedule on Saturday and have now turned their attention to the AAC tournament. More details on the tournament will be coming soon.
