Skyhawks extend win streak to three with nonconference victory

WEST POINT, Ga. (Oct. 13, 2021) – After 55 days, the Point University men's soccer team competed in River Bowl Stadium, hosting Middle Georgia State in a nonconference matchup Wednesday evening. The Skyhawks walked away victorious, picking up a 2-0 victory over the Knights.

Jeronimo Leguizamon, who leads the Appalachian Athletic Conference in goals, connected for both of Point's goals, the first coming off a free kick in the 37th minute and the second in the 77th minute. Pablo Sanz Diez recorded the assist on Leguizamon's second goal. Sanz currently leads the AAC in nine assists on the season so far.

Both teams took 11 shots apiece. Point goalie Julio Gomes recorded nine saves to help preserve the shutout.

Up next, Point hosts AAC foe Montreat College on Saturday, Oct. 16. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. with the women playing before at 1 p.m.
