Men’s Lacrosse moves past Warren Wilson for a win on the road

SWANNANOA, N.C. (Apr. 4, 2024) - The Point University Men's Lacrosse team returned to action for a road nonconference matchup against NCAA Division III, Warren Wilson College where the Skyhawks took the win with a final score of 10-3. 

Jeff Knapp and Jack Koenn opened the scoring column in the first quarter as Knapp and Koenn took turns scoring to lead 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. Point continued to keep their lead with Shaun McLaughlin adding the only score for the Skyhawks in the second quarter. The Owls avoided a shutout as Cameron Phillips for Warren Wilson scored the first goal with the Owls trailing 8-1 at halftime. Warren Wilson opened the third quarter with another score to bring their deficit to six with hopes of a comeback. Two first-timer moments would happen as Jarrod Posey and Elijah Byars each scored their first career goals to extend the lead to 10-2. The Owls were able to add one last score in the fourth quarter but would be unable to make a comeback which gave the Skyhawks the win successfully.

Jeff Knapp led with five goals, six faceoff wins, and two groundballs. Jack Koenn followed with two goals and one assist. Shaun McLaughlin added one goal, three assists, and one groundball. Jarrod Posey and Elijah Byars scored their first career goal in the contest.

The Skyhawks will return to the field for their final regular season home game against #3 Webber International University on Saturday, April 6th starting at 1:00 P.M.
