Men’s Lacrosse takes down the Hawks on the road

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Mar. 6, 2024) - The Point University Men's Lacrosse team returned to the field for a non-conference matchup on the road against NCAA Division III, Huntingdon College where the Skyhawks took the win with a final score of 12-9. 

Jeff Knapp opened the game with the first goal to enter the scoring column with an attacking mindset. This followed as he scored the next two goals for Point to bring the lead to 3-1. The lead grew as Aaron Mordarski ended the first quarter with a score to have the Skyhawks lead 4-1. The second quarter began with the Skyhawks growing their lead with Mordarski's second goal of the game. Huntingdon proceeded to add three goals to wipe away their slow start to keep the game within range. Jeff Knapp halted the run from the Hawks by adding his fourth goal on the evening to bring the score to 6-4 at halftime. 

The game continued to pick up with as the Hawks tied the game by starting the half with two goals. Shaun McLaughlin put the Skyhawks back in the lead with his first goal of the game but Huntingdon continued to match the energy. Point found a counterattack for each response that was given from the Hawks which was put on display with Aaron Mordarski's goal to put the Skyhawks back in the lead. As the fourth quarter opened, the Skyhawks allowed just two scores as Point added four goals from Aaron Mordarski (Two), Jeff Knapp (Two), and Shaun McLaughlin to finish the game with a final score of 12-9.

Jeff Knapp led with six goals, 14 faceoff wins, and nine groundballs. Aaron Mordarski followed with four goals and two groundballs. Shaun McLaughlin contributed with two goals and five groundballs.

The Skyhawks will continue their road trip as Point returns to Appalachian Athletic Conference play with a matchup against Tennessee Wesleyan University on Saturday, March 9th starting at 2:00 P.M.
