Jeff Knapp and Cam Simmons highlight All-Conference honors

WEST POINT, Ga. (Apr. 28, 2023)- The Appalachian Athletic Conference announced All-Conference honors for Men’s Lacrosse on Friday, April 28. Two Players received honors in the following categories: Second Team All-Conference and All-Academic Team.

Second Team All-Conference: Jeff Knapp

Jeff Knapp came into the season with humble intentions to bring his experience to the Lacrosse team and add a spark on the offensive side. The Skyhawks felt his presence from start to finish as Knapp had multiple six-goal games and had a season-high of nine goals against Montreat College to help the Skyhawks pick up their first conference win in six years. Knapp’s offense also helped Point add three wins on the season; the most wins in the Jordan Coates Era. Knapp broke program records for single-season goals, points, ground balls, and faceoff wins. He finished with 54 goals, 60 points, 118 faceoff wins, and 98 groundballs. Jeff Knapp has been ecstatic about his time as a Point Skyhawk and is thankful each time that he can represent the institution on the field.

Champions of Character: Cam Simmons

Cam Simmons is a confident player on the field who knows what he can bring to a team that he can pass on to his peers. Simmons is beloved by his peers and respected by many in the Skyhawk Community off the field—the five core values of respect, integrity, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmanship. The Sophomore Midfield took pride in being put in any position on the field to help his team in the best way possible. Simmons had the second most ground balls with 46, 17 caused turnovers, 26 faceoff wins, and took in-game reps as the goalie. He also had a two-goal game against Warren Wilson which helped Point pick up their second win of the season. Cam Simmons has mentioned that he has more to prove as he gears up to support Men’s Lacrosse and add more history to the program in the 2024 season.
