WEST POINT, Ga. (Feb. 25, 2023) - The Point University Men's Lacrosse team returned to the field for an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup against Tennessee Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon, where they fell 26-5.

The Bulldogs started the first quarter with a quick start of a 5-0 lead which put the Skyhawks on their heels. Jeremiah Menzies did not let Point go scoreless as he cleared through the whole defense to successfully score the first goal for the Skyhawks and his second goal of the season. Tennessee Wesleyan did not seem fazed as they scored the last goal of the period to lead 6-1.

The Bulldogs continued to bring the heat with their offensive firepower as the second quarter saw Tennessee Wesleyan score nine more points. Their defense also was more present in the quarter as they did not allow a score from the Skyhawks, which put the Bulldogs ahead 15-1 at halftime. The Skyhawks came out of halftime with no signs of giving up, which started at the 13:08 mark when Jamison Cross scored his first goal of the season to give the Skyhawks their second score. Cross not only scored but also provided a helping hand on the offensive side as he assisted Shaun McLaughlin on their third goal of the game. Tennessee Wesleyan continued to bring their firepower to life as the Bulldogs struck back with the following six goals to end the quarter with a 21-3 to head into the final period.

The Bulldogs' offense rode the momentum from the last three quarters into the fourth by scoring their next point in the first two minutes. Point's defense started to create more turnovers and stops, leading to Logan Slagle scoring his first goal of the season. The Bulldogs did not want to give the momentum away, which resulted in Tennessee Wesleyan adding two more scores on their day. Jeff Knapp did not leave the day without a goal, as he scored the final goal for the Skyhawks.
