Men’s Golf rewarded with All-Conference Honors

WEST POINT, Ga. (May 4, 2023)- The Appalachian Athletic Conference announced the 2022-23 Men’s Golf All-Conference Team and awards for the year. The following categories where the Skyhawk Golfers received awards were Player of the Year, First-Team All-Conference, All-Tournament Team, and Champions of Character.

AAC Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference: Cole Stevens

The Junior from Johannesburg, South Africa, is a player who's determined to give him all each time he steps on the course. Stevens’ impact was known as he mentioned that Cole “relaxes most of the guys, and he is going to post of a low number each day generally.” Cole Stevens had multiple tournaments where he finished first overall and was announced as the AAC Player of the Week on February 27. Cole Stevens’ collegiate resume continues to build as he was previously named an All-American in the 2021-22 season. Stevens now follows with being named Player of the Year and could potentially be a frontrunner for All-American this year.

First Team All-Conference: Jacob Joseph

The Freshman from Johannesburg, South Africa, entered the Men’s Golf program and did not disappoint. Joseph was an amazing pickup for Point as he started Fall 2022 by winning the AAC Men’s Golfer of the Week on September 23. Joseph continued his consistent play as the Spring started, placing third overall in the Skyhawk Spring Invitational. Joseph’s start to his college career was already becoming stacked, and now being First Team All-Conference is another part of the resume he can add.

First Team All-Conference: Trevor Poole

The Senior from Smiths Station, Alabama, did more than enough to hold his own each time he competed in tournaments for the Skyhawks. Stevens had tournaments where he placed in the Top 10 and had his best outing at the Eagle Spring Invite, where he finished in fifth place and shot rounds of 74 and 75. Trevor Poole's impact on the Point Men’s Golf has not gone unnoticed, and he is now on First Team All-Conference.

Champions of Character: Logan Gosdin

The Junior from Valley, Alabama, was recognized for following the five core values of integrity, respect, servant leadership, responsibility, and sportsmanship. This is not an award that should go unnoticed because Gosdin is respected by the coaching staff and his peers in the community. His strive for excellence can be presented as an exemplary student-athlete who does everything the right way.
