Cole Stevens’ big return to the course earns him AAC Golfer of the Week

WEST POINT, Ga. (Feb. 27, 2023) - Cole Stevens of the Point University men’s golf team has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for the week ending Feb. 26. 

The Junior from Johannesburg, South Africa, placed first overall in the Kinderlou Forest Spring Invite. 

Stevens’ three-round scores were 69, 70, and 71, totaling 210. 

Head Coach Maddux Lytle mentioned Cole’s return “It takes a lot of pressure off the rest of the guys because he generally will post a low number. The guys and I are happy with him being back because they know with his game that we will compete at a higher level.” Stevens’ presence was surely felt during the first tournament of this semester, and he will look to bring a solid contribution to the team as the Golf team looks to stay in the Top 25 one competition at a time. This is his first weekly honor of the season.

The Men’s Golf team will return to the course for the Skyhawk Spring Invitational, which will begin on Monday, March 6, and wrap up on Tuesday, March 7, at the Newnan Country Club in Newnan, Ga.
