Maddux Lytle Announces 2022-23 Recruiting Class

WEST POINT, Ga. (Sep. 6, 2022) - The Point University men's golf team welcomes 13 new players: three transfers, nine freshmen, and one former Point baseball player transitioning to men's golf.

The three transfers are Dylan Evans, Bryce Ingram, and Tucker Crowson. Evans and Ingram were teammates at Snead State, a junior college in Boaz, Alabama, last season and are entering their junior seasons. Coach Lytle looks forward to these two providing the team with experience, chemistry, and maturity. Crowson comes from a Division III school in Illinois, and Lytle is looking forward to him bringing his talent and maturity into the golf program at Point.

Listed below is the freshman class:

Bryce James – Jefferson, GA

Sebastiaan Schutte – Kennesaw, GA

Blake Culver – Opelika, AL

Michael Thomas – Lutz, FL

Jacob Joseph – Johannesburg, South Africa

Jan-Hendrick Neiuwoudt – Polokwane, South Africa

Juan Pablo Gonzalez Rul – Guadalajara, Mexico

Philip Froden – Jonkoping, Sweden

Gianfilippo Cappelari – Udine, Italy

Standouts so far from Lytle:

"Michael Thomas comes to us from Lutz, FL, and has showcased his abilities early on. I am excited about his talent. He is an incredible driver of the golf ball and has some of the best touch around the greens that I have ever seen. He has started very well for us in qualifying, and we look forward to seeing his game shine in competition."

"Philip Froden has traveled some way from Jonkoping, Sweden. Philip is a high-character guy and has started strong on the golf course. He is long off the tee and pairs it up nicely with incredible ball striking. I believe he will play a crucial role on our team throughout the year."

"Jacob Joseph from Johannesburg, South Africa, came out of the gates on fire in qualifying. We are familiar with guys from South Africa as we have had quite a few standouts on the golf team in the last few years. In just his third qualifying round, he fired a ten-under 61 at our home track. I would keep your eyes peeled at the top of the leaderboard in our events this year. Jacob has all the skills, and we are excited to see him in the record books next to some of Point's top guys from South Africa over the next four years."
