Bowen and Freeman recognized on All-AAC second team

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (Feb. 23, 2022) – Seniors Corey Bowen and Lorenzo Freeman Jr. have been recognized on the 2021-22 Appalachian Athletic Conference Men's Basketball All-Conference second team. The league announced the all-conference teams and award winners Wednesday evening.

Both Bowen and Freeman scored their 1,000th career point this season to help guide Point's offense. Bowen leads the team in AAC play, averaging 14.4 points per game, with Freeman behind him at 14.3. Bowen is No. 5 in the conference in field goal percentage (62.1), fourth in offensive rebounds (59), eighth in total rebounds (175), ninth in rebounds per game (7.6), and sixth in blocks (18). He is No. 12 in points (332) and No. 13 in points per game to add to his scoring column. Bowen scored double-figures in 20 AAC games, scoring in the double-figures column in the last 10 games played. He recorded double-figures in rebounds seven times to finish with seven double-doubles in AAC play.

Freeman recorded double-figures in 15 AAC games. He finished 17th in the conference in field goals (112-289), 16th in points per game (14.3) and 12th in points per 40 minutes (22.4). Freeman finished No. 13 in defensive rebounds (106) and No. 19 in rebounds per game (5.8). He scored 286 points in conference play.

Bowen and Freeman will look to help extend Point's season tomorrow morning as they face Union in the quarterfinal round of the AAC tournament at 10:15 a.m. at the MeadowView Marriott Convention Center and Conference Resort in Kingsport, Tenn.
