Skyhawks drop close exhibition matchup with Stetson

DELAND, Fla. (Dec. 30, 2021) — Lorenzo Freeman Jr. scored a game-high 28 points, but the Point University men's basketball team fell in a close one on the road to NCAA Division I opponent Stetson University 75-66 in an exhibition contest Thursday afternoon. 

Out of the gate, Point took an early 4-0 lead before the Hatters went on a 9-0 run to earn the lead. Stetson would hold the lead for the remainder of the contest. 

Freeman was 10-for-20 from the field with five 3-pointers. Javier Turner was the next Skyhawk in the scoring column with 12 points off the bench and Corey Bowen followed with 11 points. 

Thursday's game concluded the 2021 portion of Point's season. The Skyhawks will be back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 4, as they host Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Bryan College inside West Point Park Gymnasium. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
