Skyhawks suffer road defeat

BABSON PARK, Fla. (Oct. 28, 2021) – The Point University men's basketball team looked to pick up its first road win of the season Thursday evening, but the Skyhawks could not overcome a rough opening half as they fell to Webber International 68-51 in Babson Park, Florida.

Both teams opened the game struggling to score, as the first baskets made by both Webber and Point came nearly three and a half minutes into the contest. With 11:44 left in the half, the Warriors led the Skyhawks 9-4 and limited Point to only 14 more points as Webber entered the break leading 30-18.

The Skyhawks were 8-for-20 from the field and 2-for-9 from perimeter shooting, with Ray Reeves connecting for both of Point's three-pointers.

In the second half, the Warriors extended their lead out by 30 with under seven minutes remaining, but the Skyhawks closed the game out on a 19-6 run. Point's run, however, was not enough to earn a comeback victory.

Point was 10-for-34 from the field in the second half and only connected for three shots behind the 3-point line. The Skyhawks were 10-for-22 from the charity stripe.

Reeves led Point with 10 points, with nine of his points coming from the perimeter. Nichaune Jones followed with eight points, and RJ Selman led the Skyhawks with seven rebounds.

Up next, Point continues its Florida road trip by facing Johnson (Fla.) on Saturday, Oct. 30. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
