Women’s Flag Football falls to St. Thomas in home finale

WEST POINT, Ga. (Apr. 13, 2024) - The Point University Women's Flag Football team returned to the field for an afternoon Saturday Sun Conference home finale against St. Thomas University where the Skyhawks fell to the Bobcats with a final score of 38-0. 

The Skyhawks took the field on offense first with a quick tempo as Maddy Motz connected with Jordan Palmer for the first completion. Point continued moving the ball with multiple rushes and pitches to Kyra Hart. The Bobcats were able to halt the quick momentum and take possession on offense. St. Thomas moved the ball with a long 35-yard completion and a one-yard pass to score their first touchdown of the game. With a trips right look, the Bobcats found a receiver on the back pylon for the one-point conversion. The scoring continued from St. Thomas with a Quarterback rush to score their second touchdown. The Skyhawks were unable to slow the tempo down from the Bobcats as St. Thomas added two touchdowns in the second quarter to lead 25-0 at the half. 

Maddy Motz was able to add multiple rushes for a first down which was followed by passes to Jordan Palmer. The Skyhawks continued to move the ball but the Bobcats kept Point out of the endzone. As St. Thomas' defense locked in with multiple stops, the Bobcats secured a win with a final score of 38-0. 

In the Box 

Maddy Motz went 25-for-28 with 81 passing yards and added 11 rushes for 33 rushing yards. Jordan Palmer led in the air with 12 receptions for 36 yards. Laynie-Grace Benefield led the Skyhawks defensively with 9 flag pulls.
