Point Women’s Flag Football adds first two program victories at the Georgia Invitational

WEST POINT, Ga. (Mar. 18, 2024) - The Point University Women's Flag Football team took their talents to Waleska, Georgia for the Georgia Invitational hosted by Reinhardt University where the Skyhawks played two games on Friday, March 15th, and two games on Saturday, March 16th. On Friday, the Skyhawks added another milestone to their program as Point picked up their first win in program history against Pasco-Hernando State College with a final score of 16-6. The second game of the evening was a matchup against Milligan University where the Buffaloes moved past the Skyhawks with a final score of 25-13. Day Two of the tournament saw Point take on Webber International University in a tight matchup where the Warriors won 27-24. Point took the field for the following game against Reinhardt University where the Skyhawks defeated the Eagles for their second win of the tournament and season with a final score of 19-13.

Each Game that the Skyhawks have played has shown growth as the team is starting to adjust to the speed of the game under the leadership of Head Coach Theseus Jackson. The Skyhawks have proven that no matter the opponent, they will compete and give it their all. The excitement for Women's Flag Football continues to grow as each player looks to continue making plays on both sides of the ball with IQ, speed, and drive. With Point knowing what victories feel like, the Skyhawks also have a "never satisfied" mindset which means in their eyes there is still more work to be done. From the first scrimmage against Florida Gateway in the fall, Coach Jackson knew if the team stuck with the process of working hard each day there would be success to follow. For Point, there are still a lot of games to be played and many new challenges to overcome. Skyhawk Nation will see a more experienced team on April 11th against Florida Memorial which will continue to bring the excitement for the puzzle that is being built within Women's Flag Football.
