WEST POINT, Ga. (Apr. 5, 2023)- It is a new era for Point University Athletics as Athletic Director Jaunelle White has announced the appointment of Theseus Jackson as the first-ever Women’s Flag Football coach.

Jackson is a familiar face for Point University as his previous stint was with the Point University Football team as a Wide Receivers Coach. Theseus has over 15 years of experience in playing and coaching flag football. Coach Jackson has already hit the road to start searching for talent that best fits the core values of a Skyhawk. Jackson’s vision for this program is to stay the course, listen, adapt, and adjust to the player’s strengths and weaknesses.

“I’m looking forward to working with Coach Jackson in this new role,” White shared. “His passion for Christ, energy, and competitive edge are unmatched. He’s just the piece we need to complete the puzzle.”

Jackson returns to Point after most recently serving as the Running backs coach at Shorter University. His primary responsibilities were to help implement the design of a training and game program. He also helped aid in the organization and supervision of the coaching staff to ensure that the program was executed correctly. Theseus has a winning background in flag football, as he has won championships as a player and coach.

Jackson graduated from Valdosta State University with his bachelor’s in Sociology and Anthropology while also being a football team member during his tenure. Jackson followed allowed by getting his master's in social work from Valdosta. He is a native of Irwinton, Georgia, and has a passion for being around people, as he has a background in the football world along with being a teacher. Jackson’s experience of interacting with different personalities can contribute significantly to the flag football program as he looks to help bring the competitive edge under the head coach position and see his players become young leaders in the world day in and day out.

“Making history and being the first head coach of this program means the world to me, and I am ready to help bring the winning culture here.” Jackson shared. “Point University is a great place to work. The staff and students were awesome, and I am happy to return to the Skyhawk family again!”
