Emery Bryant’s sensational season earns him AP NAIA First-Team All-American

WEST POINT, Ga. (Dec. 23, 2023) - The Point University Football Team continues to add more accolades as Emery Bryant was named an AP NAIA First Team All-American as an All-Purpose Player. Bryant ends his career in a Skyhawk uniform in the best way possible as he can add an All-American honor to his resume after an explosive season with 1,512 All-Purpose yards on the season.

Emery Bryant came into the season with a clean slate to show that he was a top player in the Appalachian Athletic Conference while being named as a top player in the conference during the preseason. For Bryant, it did not take long to pick up where he left off as in Week Two, he set an AAC Record along with a school record for the longest kick return for a touchdown with 94 yards against NCAA Division II Opponent, Valdosta State which resulted in him winning AAC and NAIA Special Teams Player of the Week and also surpassed his previous longest return with 80 yards in 2022. Emery Bryant is also the only player in the AAC to return a kickoff for a touchdown twice. The Senior from Birmingham, Alabama only had two games out of 11 during the 2023 campaign where he did not score a touchdown which showed his impact each week. Bryant also added three 100-yard receiving yard games (123 vs. Kentucky Christian, 117 vs. Union College, and 137 vs. Faulkner University). Emery Bryant's 137-yard day against Faulkner University included scoring all three touchdowns that the Skyhawks had against the Eagles which resulted in him winning AAC Offensive Player of the Week. Bryant was a player that was on each team's scouting report whether if it was to put an opposing defense's best defender to guard him or if it was to avoid kicking the ball his way. For Point University Football, this is the fourth consecutive All-American honor that will be added to the history of the program. Overall from the 2023 season, Bryant finished with 1,512 All-Purpose yards (978 receiving yards, 408 Kick return yards, and 108 Punt return yards), 13 Total touchdowns, and averaged 137.5 yards per game. As Bryant wraps his career at Point University, he will look to start preparing for the 2024 Podyum All-Star Bowl which will be held in Miami, Florida. From breaking records during the season, multiple player of the Week honors in the conference along with one in the NAIA, another first-team all-conference honor on offense and as a return specialist, and now adding an All-American to his name, Emery Bryant will go down in history as another legend to wear the Point Skyhawk uniform.
