BJ Finley’s explosive Senior Day Game earns him AAC Defensive Player of the Week

WEST POINT, Ga. (Nov. 13, 2023) - The Appalachian Athletic Conference has announced the Player of the Week honors for the final week of the regular season football where Barry "BJ" Finley was named as the AAC Defensive Player of the Week.

The senior from Gardendale, Alabama stepped onto the field at Ram Stadium for the final time in a Skyhawk jersey and made it count. Finley had his best game of the season as he led the Skyhawks' defense with 10 tackles (nine solo and one assist) while adding one sack, one tackle for loss, and one fumble recovery. BJ Finley wanted to make his last game at the Ram Stadium be the most memorable game of the season and the way he swarmed to the ball each play proved to be a threat as he was a force to reckoned with and seemed to be in on every tackle made. Under the defense of Coach Trevor Zeiders and Nigel Lawrence, this honor makes the fourth time for the Skyhawk defense to have an award of the Defensive Player of the Week. Overall, this is the eighth time a player has earned an honor from the AAC under the direction of Trevor Zeiders this season. Barry Finley now can add to his resume that he was named an AAC Defensive Player of the Week on his stout resume.
