Skyhawks blanked by Keiser

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 25, 2021) – The Point University football team traveled to face No. 7 Keiser University Saturday evening and fell to the Seahawks 30-0.

With Saturday's loss, the Skyhawks fall to 0-4 on the season.

With less than two minutes remaining in the first quarter, neither team had found a way onto the board, but an interception by Keiser led to the Seahawks scoring their first touchdown of the night and taking a 7-0 lead.

In the second quarter, Keiser extended their lead with a field goal in their first possession, and with less than a minute remaining in the half, Keiser's Shea Spencer connected for Traionn Jones for a 26-yard touchdown with one second remaining. The Seahawks entered the half leading 17-0.

Keiser had possession of the ball out of the break and scored their third touchdown of the day within the first minute of play, going ahead 24-0. The Seahawks would score their final touchdown of the day with 3:56 left in the third quarter, but Keiser could not connect for the PAT and went ahead 30-0. Keiser's Marques Burgess scored the Seahawks' first and last touchdowns.

Payton Allen and Brenton White took snaps from the quarterback position, as Allen was 9-for-25 and threw for 130 yards, and White was 5-for-12 and threw for 35 yards. Junior running back Sensir Carnes led Point in rushing with 46 yards and was followed by Allen with 37 yards. Jeremiah Menzies led in receiving yards with 66 and was followed by Christian Hodgins, who had 55.

On defense, Aaron Anderson led with 11 tackles and was followed by Quan Neal, Shakwan Bickley and Kemorion Larkin who recorded six tackles apiece. Neal recorded the only interception the Skyhawks had of the night.

Up next, Point will host St. Andrews on Saturday, Oct. 2, in the Skyhawks' first home game of the season. Game time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and will be a part of Point's Homecoming Weekend activities.
