Point Baseball falls to Middle Georgia in Opening Game in the SSAC Tournament

JACKSON, Tenn. (May 1, 2024) - The Point University Baseball Team opened the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament as the number three seed the Skyhawks took on the number six-seeded Middle Georgia State University where the Skyhawks fell to the Knights with a final score of 15-4. 

The Knights opened with an RBI single to add their first run followed by a runner advancing home for a two-run lead. Point responded with Jaysen Dower singling through the right side. Slade Mink followed with a double to add another base hit for Point. An error on the catcher from Middle Georgia helped Jaysen Dower for Point's first run. Alex Marquand's RBI single through the right side helped Slade Mink sprint home to tie the game at two. The Knights continued to catch their rhythm with two hits, resulting in two runs to regain the lead with a score of 4-2. With the Knights adding a run, Mason Davis smacked a home-run to left field and followed with an RBI single from Daniel Gonzalez to score Silas Bulter for their fourth run. Middle Georgia extended their lead by adding 10 runs in the next four innings to finish the game with a final score of 15-4.

Point will return to the field for their second game in the tournament against Thomas University with the first pitch scheduled for 4:00 P.M. Central Time.
