Game Three Continuation sees Brewton-Parker steal final game over the Skyhawks

WEST POINT, Ga. (Apr. 23, 2024) - The Point University Baseball team returned to the field to resume Game Three of the original Southern States Athletic Conference weekend series which was postponed due to storms in the area and bad playing conditions. Brewton-Parker took Game Three with a final score of 2-1. 

The Game resumed play in the Bottom of the fourth inning with the Skyhawks leading off at bat. Brewton-Parker was able to end with three quick outs to end the inning. The action picked up in the top of the sixth inning as four walks and a wild pitch tied the game at 1-1. The Barons followed with an RBI single to right center to score a run and take the lead. Slade Mink added a hit past the shortstop in top of the eighth and followed with stealing second but the Skyhawks were able to add a run from the result. As both teams entered the ninth inning, Cole Johnson's first appearance on the mound helped end the inning with a double play to give the Skyhawks an opportunity going into the bottom of the inning. Two strikeouts from Brewton-Parker opened the inning with Point having two outs and needing to keep the game alive with some momentum. Four pitches later, Zeb Baird found himself walking to first to keep the game alive. Mason Davis followed with a single to right field with Brett Campbell and Davis on first and second. The Barons were unable to retire Sam Baker at bat which loaded the bases with two outs. Daniel Gonzalez followed with a hit that looked to go past the shortstop but the Barons were able to perfectly track to end the game with a final score of 2-1.

The Skyhawks will return to action for their final SSAC Series in Montgomery, Alabama against #11 Faulkner University beginning on Thursday, April 25th at 2:00 P.M. Central Time and wrapping on Friday, April 26th at 1:00 & 4:00 P.M. Central.
