Cole Brown throws complete game in game two, but Skyhawks drop the series with Union
WEST POINT, Ga. (April 21, 2023) – The Point University baseball team played a three-game AAC conference series Thursday and Friday at home against Union. The Skyhawks would lose the series by losing Game 1, 11-2, winning Game 2, 6-0 and losing Game 3, 6-1.
GAME 1 – 11-2 LOSS
The Skyhawks would score first in the bottom of the first inning when Kaleb Podger would score on a passed ball to make it 1-0. The Bulldogs would start their scoring in the second inning and would score in every inning of the game, but the first and seventh innings. The Bulldogs would take a 11-1 lead into the bottom of the ninth. Kaleb Podger would hit an RBI single to center field to score Adam Barnett to make it 11-2. The Bulldogs would hold on for the 11-2, game one victory.

GAME 2 – 6-0 WIN
The Skyhawks would bounce back after losing game one with scoring their six runs in the fourth and sixth inning. In the fourth inning, Slade Mink would score on a wild pitch to make it 1-0. Zeb Baird would hit an RBI single up the middle to score Jhamante Woods to make it 2-0. Baird would later score on a wild pitch to make it 3-0. Alex Marquand would hit a sacrifice fly to right field, that would score Jackson Bush to make it 4-0. Kaleb Podger would single to score Watkins and that would make it 5-0 after the bottom of the fourth. The Skyhawks would tack one more run in the bottom of the sixth when Zeb Baird would hit the scoreboard in left field for a solo home run to make it 6-0.
Cole Brown would throw a complete game to move to 7-2 on the season. Brown would scatter seven hits, walk two and strike out six batters in his performance in game two. The Skyhawks defense would turn seven double plays in the contest.

GAME 3 – 6-1 LOSS
The Bulldogs would drop out to a 5-0 lead after the first inning to make it 5-0. In the bottom of the third, Slade Mink would hit an RBI double to left center, that would score Kaleb Podger to make it a 5-1 ball game. The Bulldogs would add one more run off of a fielder's choice to make it 6-1. The score would remain 6-1 and the Bulldogs would head back to Union with a series victory after the 6-1 win in game three against the Skyhawks.
