Baseball drops first two games of three-game series against #3 Tennessee Wesleyan
WEST POINT, Ga. (April 6, 2023) – The Point University baseball team started a three game series with Tennessee Wesleyan with Game 1 and 2 being played today. The Skyhawks would drop Game 1, 15-10 and Game 2, 3-0.
Game 1 – 15-10 LOSS
The Bulldogs would start the scoring off first with one in the top of the first inning to make it 1-0. The Skyhawks would respond in the bottom of the first when Zeb Baird would walk with the bases loaded and Kaleb Podger would score to make it 1-1. The Skyhawks would add three more runs in the bottom of the second to take a 4-1 lead when Jackson Bush would hit a three-run home run. The Bulldogs would answer back in the top of the fourth when they would score two runs to make it 4-3. In the bottom of the fourth, Jhamante Woods would double to left center to score both Kaleb Podger and Slade Mink to make it 6-3. Alex Marquand would single to left center to score Woods to make it 7-3. Chase Tolbert would add a single to right field to score J.R. Curley to give the Skyhawks an 8-3 lead after four innings. The Bulldogs would answer again by scoring three runs in the fifth and five runs in the sixth to make it an 11-8 game. The Skyhawks would get one run back in the bottom of the sixth when Chase Tolbert would hit an RBI double to left center to score J.R. Curley to make it 11-9. The Bulldogs would add four more runs in the top of the seventh to go up 15-9. Down by six runs in the bottom of the ninth, the Skyhawks would score one run when Alex Marquand would fly out to center field to score Slade Mink to make it 15-10. The Skyhawks would be unable to tie or take the lead, with the Bulldogs taking Game 1, 15-10.

Game 2 – 3-0 LOSS
The Bulldogs would score a single run in the first, third and fourth innings for a 3-0 lead. They would hold onto that lead for the Game 2 victory and take the doubleheader on Thursday. The Skyhawks would get their lone hit from Kaleb Podger. Daniel Crabtree would throw a complete game going all seven innings and striking out three batters in the losing effort.

The baseball team will play Game 3 of the three-game series tomorrow against Tennessee Wesleyan, with the first pitch scheduled for 12:00 P.M.
