Baseball secures midweek win against #25 Faulkner
WEST POINT, Ga. (March 14, 2023) – The Point University baseball team played a non-conference game against the #25 Faulkner and won 15-5 in a seven-inning mercy rule.
The Skyhawks would get a three up, three down by Daniel Crabtree to head to the bottom of the first. Jackson Bush would get the scoring started when he hits a solo homer to make it 1-0. After singles by Kaleb Podger and Slade Mink, Zeb Baird would hit a 2 RBI triple to make it 3-0. Chase Tolbert would double to right center to score Zeb Baird to make it 4-0. After a Noah Watkins walk, Adam Barnett would single to left field and score Devon Foster to make it 5-0. The Eagles would go to the bullpen after the Adam Barnett single. Sam Baker would welcome him with a 2 RBI single to score Adam Barnett and Noah Watkins to make it 7-0. Sam Baker would steal second. Jackson Bush and Kaleb Podger would both walk to load the bases. Alex Marquand would single to right field to score Jackson Bush and Sam Baker to make it 9-0 after the first inning. The Eagles would add two runs in the top of the fourth to make it 9-2. The Skyhawks would have another offensive explosion in the bottom of the fourth when they score six runs. The bottom of the fourth scoring would start when the bases were loaded and Adam Barnett would walk to score Slade Mink to make it 10-2. Sam Baker would walk to score Zeb Baird to make it 11-2. Jackson Bush would hit his second home run of the game, when he hit a gland slam to make it 15-2. The Eagles would add two runs in the sixth to make it 15-4. The Eagles would try to get out of the mercy rule, but would only score one run in the seventh and would lose, 15-5. The winning pitcher would be Daniel Crabtree with the Skyhawks pitching staff going "Johnny Wholestaff" in the midweek.

Next Game
The baseball team will play their next game on Thursday, March 16 for Game 1 of AAC conference series against Bryan College (Tenn.) with the first pitched scheduled for 5:00 P.M. This game has been moved up from Friday, March 17 due to weather in the forecast. Game 2 and 3 of the series will be played on Saturday, March 18 with first pitch of Game 2 at 1:00 P.M.
