Skyhawks drop Game 1 to the Bears in weekend AAC baseball series

CLEVELAND, Ga. (March 10, 2023) – The Point University baseball team played Game 1 of their three game series against Truett-McConnell and would lose 12-2.

The Skyhawks would score their only runs in the first inning when they would take an early 2-0 lead. Slade Mink would hit a sacrifice fly ball to center field that would score Jackson Bush and move Kaleb Podger to third base. Jhamante Woods would come up next and drop a bunt on a shifted Bears defense to score Podger and make it 2-0. The Skyhawks would scatter five more hits throughout the rest of the game with no runs.

 

The Bears would score one run in the first, four runs in the second, two runs in the fourth, three runs in the fifth and two runs in the seventh. The Bears would have only one extra base hit and it was a big one for them. They would hit a base clearing double in the bottom of the second to make it 5-2. The Bears would also get ten free passes on seven walks and three hit by pitches.

Next Game

The baseball team will play Games 2 and 3 of their away AAC conference series with Truett-McConnell tomorrow, Saturday, March 11 with the first pitch scheduled for 12:00 P.M. Game 3 tomorrow is scheduled for 30 minutes after the last out of Game 2 of the series.
