Point University Athletics inducts Inaugural Class in the Hall of Fame

WEST POINT, Ga. (Apr. 28, 2024) - The Point University Athletic Department made History by hosting its first-ever Hall of Fame Luncheon in School History. The Hall of Fame Class of 2024 consisted of six Inductees with a mixture of Atlanta Christian College and Point University Graduates. 

Planning Stages 

The Point University Athletic Department, led by Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics and Chief Student Development Officer, Jaunelle White, who came into the 2023-24 with a vision to make the Hall of Fame at Point University a reality. The West Point Gym saw its first addition of the direction by adding a Hall of Fame room at the entrance with jerseys from each sport framed on the wall. As the year progressed, the next stage was to work on the event’s logistics. The vision of the Hall of Fame Luncheon deemed many important factors like the food, itinerary, and roles for the Luncheon. With Hall of Fame Nominations being opened, the light at the end of the tunnel shined brightly as over 100 nominations were submitted. After the nominations, the committee consisted of eight additional members to prepare to find the six members for the Inaugural Class. On March 21, 2024, the official Hall of Fame Class was announced and released to the public.  

The Vision on Display 

As the Hall of Fame was announced, the anticipation for the event started to build as reservations were made and tickets were sold. The Six Members of the class represented four sports: Men’s Basketball, Women’s Golf, Women’s Soccer, and Football. Scott Gregory, Carlton Griffin, and Tory Wooley were inductees for Men’s Basketball, Courtney Lowery was an inductee for Women’s Golf, Angela Mulkey Alfaro was an inductee for Women’s Soccer, and David Strickland was an inductee for Football. With the date set for April 26th, 2024, the vision grew with decorations, lights, and guests set in stone. On a sunny Friday afternoon, the nerves were out and the smiles were in with the Point University colors on display. The festivities opened with a welcoming from Mark Childers, invocation from Chief Enrollment Officer Rusty Hassell, and lunch provided by Sage Dining Services, Inc. As lunch settled in, the Hall of Fame ceremony began with introductions of their choosing, a plaque with their name and sport, and a speech from the inductees with great gratitude. The vision put on display by Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics, Jaunelle White and Senior Woman Leader and Assistant Athletic Director was met with great reviews and excitement for the build of the Hall of Fame that will continue to celebrate Atlanta Christian College and Point University.
