Point Athletics Introduces Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

WEST POINT, Ga. (Aug. 30, 2022) - Point University recently introduced a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) that will serve as the voice for student-athletes on campus.

Point's SAAC seeks to provide a diverse, Christ-honoring culture of excellence to develop servant leaders in the classroom, competition, and community.

At the SAAC's first official meeting, members, who were elected by their coaches, voted on an executive committee that will be the voice for student-athletes at Point. The council and their titles are as follows:

Marta Gimenez (Women's Basketball): President

  • Presides over all meetings, makes the final decision in case of a tie vote, ensures the organization is operating in conformity with the standards set forth by Point and Student Life and promotes committee initiatives to improve student-athlete welfare, and promotes full integration into the university community.

Sarah Baucham (Volleyball): Executive Vice President

  • Represents Point in Appalachian Athletic Conference SAAC, schedules meetings/events with university departments, organizes and promotes campus events, and assists the president in written reports for the VP of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Taylor Hogan (Football): Vice President of Community Service

  • Oversees all SAAC community service efforts hosted by Point Athletics, coordinates SAAC involvement in community and philanthropic events in alignment with NAIA Champions of Character, and arranges fundraising opportunities for other charities or organizations.

Dakotah Fuller (Men's Tennis): Vice President of Finance

  • Serves as Chief Financial Officer of SAAC, Creates and monitors the SAAC budget, presents to members for ¾ vote, completes monthly budget reports, and assists the EVP with creating agenda items.

RJ Selman (Men's Basketball): Vice President of Administration

  • Responsible for all communication internal to SAAC, possesses full authority over written records including, but not limited to, meeting minutes and attendance records, maintains an accurate record of all organization meetings, and corresponds, when necessary, with University administration and other registered student organizations.

Whitney Ward (Volleyball): Social Media Engagement Officer

  • Creates and posts content pertaining to SAAC and its engagements and corresponds with Sports Information Director on content creation.
