Skyhawks kept scoreless on the road at CIU

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Oct. 19, 2022) - The Point University women's soccer team took a trip to Columbia, Sc. Wednesday night to square off against Columbia International University in a conference matchup and fell 2-0. 

The Rams came into the matchup with hopes of scoring quickly as they had three shots on goal in the first half, but none of their shots could find the back of the net. Point held on pace with the Rams during the half, with goalie Erica Burkhardt coming up with three saves. At the end the first half, both teams were held scoreless.

The Skyhawks came into the second half looking to gather some momentum off of the scoreless first half but were met by a Rams offense that found themselves scoring in the 61 and 88 minute marks. The 61-minute goal was scored by Amber McKinley, with assists from Avery Long and Marisa Dill. The 88-minute goal was scored by Haley Hernandez with an assist from Tara Collins.

In the box 

Columbia International University outshot Point 16-3 with eight shots on goal compared to the Skyhawks' who didn't get a shot on goal. Points three shots this evening were shot by Kelly Carlisle, Alyssa Bennett and Tamia Jones. Erica Burkhardt tallied six saves on the evening.

Up next 

Point will return to the pitch as they travel back to Columbia, Sc. to take on Columbia (SC) for an AAC matchup on Oct. 25. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
