Women’s soccer suffers shutout in season opener

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Aug. 23, 2022) – The Point University women's soccer team opened its 2022 season on the road Wednesday evening at Faulkner University and fell to the Eagles 3-0.

With nearly 10 minutes left in the first half, Faulkner connected for its first goal and followed with a second goal five minutes later. The Eagles outshot Point 10-4 in the first half.

In the second half, Faulkner extended its lead with a goal in the 76th minute. Three different Eagles scored each goal.

Point took seven shots with four on goal. Keely McGuffin, Tamia Jones, Hannah Delp and Lorelei Lewis each took a shot on goal. In goal, Erica Burkhardt made seven saves.

The Skyhawks will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 1, as they travel to face Thomas University at 5 p.m.
